About Shop Owner Leslie Flynt

Leslie Flynt Talbot was born in Houston, Texas, and pursued a degree in Anthropology at the University of Texas A&M, in College Station, Texas. She applied her studies to galleries specializing in Pre-Columbian art in Houston before moving to Santa Fe in 1987. There, she continued working for Economos Works of Art, honing her eye for and expertise in antique folk art, jewelry, and furniture. Her knowhow of the origins of Latin American folk art, textiles, and adornments, as well as her budding love for New Mexico and knack for business, led her in 1989 to open her own gallery/shop, on Canyon Road, the official art road of Santa Fe. Since the beginning, brimming with small-scale vendors and local painters and furniture makers, antique Latin American paper artistry and textiles, her story was always one step ahead of the traditional galleries nearby, crafting a blend of accessible home furnishings and fine collector’s items. Leslie’s husband is also a local art entrepreneur, and her daughter currently lives in Mexico.
